Unchained Memories_B
Unchained Memories begins with a collection of anonymous photographs that, having lost their original context, become open surfaces for pictorial intervention. The aim is not to recover what has been lost, but to use the photographic image as a trigger for free exploration, where memory is released in the form of pigment, texture and emotion. Photography is just the starting point; it is painting that truly expands, turning these fragments into a space from which to observe the memories of others as if they were our own.
The canvas and wood lend the image a material weight that alters our perception. The canvas, with its irregular grain and ability to absorb pigment, allows the paint to flow, gather or dissolve, generating vibrant textures that intensify the emotional charge of the work. Wood, in turn, contributes veins, marks and scars that do not act as a neutral base, but as an active interlocutor. In this dialogue, the pictorial intervention does not impose a narrative, but accompanies the visual gesture, allowing veiled fragments to emerge. Each stroke, each layering and texture seeks to name what is latent through painting, extending the tension between what is visible and the echo of what remains hidden.
The project offers a reflection on the power of images to awaken dormant memories and emotions, and on how we confront what we remember or believe we remember. Together, painting and photography create a silent presence that, despite its uprootedness, retains its full emotional potency.
