Return to Sender

Return to Sender begins with a gesture of recovery, intervention and symbolic return of vernacular photographs to our present. These are fragments rescued from oblivion that return like letters never opened, carrying an ancient desire capable of naming us as future recipients. The image thus displaces its original meaning and transforms the human longing to be remembered through a visual poetics that turns the intimate into a celebration of the everyday.

Through photographic techniques such as liquid emulsion or cyanotype, each image becomes a sensitive body where time manifests as matter, and the surface becomes a resonance space.

Postage stamps introduce a system of double reading. They evoke the logic of the postal act and activate a visual and conceptual play around the ideas of value, power, validation and plastic counterpoint. They function as both mark and threshold, as signs interrupting and simultaneously reframing the separation and silence in these images.

Like someone recalling something of their own from a shared memory, these images from another time seem to remind us that they, too, are part of who we are.
