The Time Between offers a reflection on unphotographed time: that which unfolds between two images without being fixed in either. The focus shifts towards the margins of the analogue negative – those in-between spaces usually regarded as residual – which here reveal an unexpected poetic potential.

It is within these symbolic interstices that undocumented life concentrates: what was not chosen for posterity. The project thus becomes a point of inflection – what place do the images one never took occupy in a person’s life? As if excluded by an excess of light or an impenetrable darkness, these unrecorded zones preserve time in its purest state, indicating through space that a story was once held within a gesture.

The pieces that make up this project materialise this reflection in different ways. Some focus on the narrow strip between negatives, reframing that barely visible threshold to give it a new presence. Others condense an entire roll of film into a single image, breaking down the temporal flow into fragments that evoke sequences, rhythms, or hidden codes buried in memory. At times, the intervention is minimal; in others, the time contained bursts into more radical visual structures, letting go of figuration and offering instead a continuous time shaped by absence. In all cases, the intention is to activate a language that does not depict but remembers – evoking what was never turned into image.
