¡Tengo Ganas De Verte!
¡Tengo Ganas de Verte! is an artistic project that rescues anonymous photographs uprooted from old family albums. These images, found in antique markets in Bogotá, embark on a physical journey across the Atlantic to create a new space of memory in Barcelona. In this process, the idea of migration becomes a central axis: just as people change when they come into contact with a new country and culture, these photographs also transform their journey. They change in form and perspective, and that transit sublimates them, elevating them from everyday objects to vestiges of memory in motion. The envelope in which they are received symbolises that journey, an intermediate space where they are resignified and told anew, as if, when oriented in a new place, their sky also changes.
The selection process for each image is carried out subjectively, focusing on those that reveal their longing for metamorphosis. During their displacement, the images transform, revealing invisible layers of time, memory, and experience. They are silent witnesses to the human condition and its need for connection, even in the absence.
To enhance this idea of presence in distance, the project introduces another migratory artefact: old envelopes containing personal letters written before and during the Franco dictatorship. These objects, aside from their aesthetic and testimonial value, represent forms of communication that transcend physical space and maintain the bond with the other. In this gesture,¡Tengo Ganas de Verte! proposes to unite and transform parallel universes through artistic processes such as liquid emulsion and cyanotype. These visual memories are contemplated from a different light: an interior, deep, and intimate spectrum.
