Missing Memory Series
The excitement of a newly bought vintage Contax camera ordered online and an afternoon spent taking photographs and portraits in Montjuïc, followed by the disappointment, upon developing the roll, of having lost the images due to a defect in the camera, are the origin of this series.
Accepting that risk and the uncertainty of not having tested the camera beforehand added intensity to each photograph. It connected me with the attitude I bring to painting: starting from a generative idea, I try to let things happen in a consciously uncontrolled way, allowing myself to be surprised in the dialogue with the painting, open to discovery and learning rather than trying to assert any particular certainty.
From each frame of the roll, I create a Fine Art digital print on which I stamp "An afternoon in Montjuïc" and to which I attach the original negative using tapes of different textures or colors, a pictorial intervention on images that take me back to my first painting in the Temporal Interval series.
